THE CHALLENGE
HP created these assembly nests to help during the manufacturing process of air manifolds inside a 3D printer. Parts are placed over these tools to ensure proper ergonomics and ease of assembly on the manufacturing top line.
Assembly nests must be able to support large and complex parts, as well as facilitate the ergonomics of the assembly process. HP Multi Jet Fusion technology enables the design of complex geometries that fulfill these requirements.
RESULTS
When HP MJF technology is used to produce the diverter valve locator, the time for assembly is eliminated as it is completed in one piece, whereas using traditional manufacturing technologies, the locator would need to be assembled from various machined parts or off-the-shelf components.
